Greg Smith, LCSW
Director

Greg is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  He is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and has worked in the field of family therapy since 1997.   Greg obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from North Georgia College and State University and graduated with his Master's in Social Work from the University of Georgia.  He has been licensed by the State of Georgia as a Clinical Social Worker since 2000.

Since taking the position as Director of Still Waters in 2001, Greg has worked to
provide Christ like leadership in both practice and administration.  He has a deep conviction that God's provision delivered through clinically trained and Spirit lead therapists is the answer to today's complex problems.  He has allowed God to staff Still Waters Counseling Center with a group of talented and compassionate therapists who are committed to the cause of Christ, bringing Christ's healing to His people.

Greg's passion is the family, one of God's most cherished institutions.  Greg has dedicated his work to the area of family therapy.  His clinical approach to working with families is Strategic Family Therapy (SFT).  SFT seeks to understand motives, process issues and treat problems within the context of person's current and extended families.  He also employs clinical techniques from other disciplines such as Cognitive Behavioral, Gestalt, and Rational Emotive Therapies.  He treats marriage, parenting, and addiction issues as well as grief, trauma, anxiety, and depression, never losing sight of the family structure from which the person has come.

Spiritually, Greg relies heavily on God's word and the direction of the Holy Spirit in his work with people.  God's truths are as applicable today as they were two thousand years ago and the Holy Spirit is just as powerful.  Interestingly, nearly all of the ideals maintained by popular psychology can be traced back to God's word.
